The components included in a vape kit are:
The tank or pod where the e-liquid is held
The battery that powers the device
The coil
The mouthpiece (also called drip tip)
Vape kits work by the battery powering the device to heat up the coils. The vape juice comes into contact with the hot coils via the wick and is vaporised into the vapour clouds that you inhale from the mouthpiece.
Depending on the specific vape kit, you might also receive a charging cable or replacement coils with your vape device.

Types of vape kits All-in-one and starter kits
Created for beginner vapers, these vapes are a great place to start. Although they still have top functionality and can deliver great flavours, these e-cigarettes are less customisable and easier to use than other kits.
Pod kits
Also called pod mods, pod vape kits are easy to use because they include replaceable pods which hold the e-liquid instead of you having to put e-liquid directly into the tank. These pods are easy to replace and some can be refilled with e-liquid multiple times before they need to be changed.
Advanced kits and box mods
Perfect for more advanced vapers, advanced kits are more customisable and powerful. They have batteries that allow a higher wattage, meaning that they are most often used for sub-ohm vaping and with high VG e-juice. As a result, these vapes are often more bulky than other e-cigarettes.
Disposable vapes
Disposable vapes are another type of vape kit, but they come pre-charged and pre-filled with e-liquid and nicotine. Disposable e-cigarettes are great for those new to vaping or as a backup device, but if you want to achieve better flavour, clouds, and battery life, a rechargeable and refillable vape kit is a good investment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does wattage matter?
Some of the vape mods featured here have adjustable wattage, but what are the benefits of changing the amount of power your vape uses?
Many vapers like to have control over the wattage of their e-cigarette because this allows them to adjust the temperature of the vape coils, impacting e-liquid vaporising and changing the flavour and throat hit.
You'll find that different types of e-liquid flavours taste better at a different wattage. For example, fruity flavours tend to taste better at lower wattages, whereas flavours like tobacco taste better at a hotter temperature.
However, if you're just starting out on your vape journey, you'll find that most vape pen starter kits provide a good wattage for most flavours.
What sort of vape kit is better for my vaping style?
There are two vaping styles: mouth-to-lung (MTL) and direct-to-lung (DTL).
MTL is similar to cigarette smoking and is more popular among vaping beginners. For MTL vapers, vape pen e-cigs and vape pod kits are a good choice.
For DTL vapers, box mod and sub-ohm vape kits are better. With the right coils, these offer bigger vapour clouds and more intense flavour with a gentler throat hit.
