What nicotine strength do I need?

One of the challenges for new vapers is figuring out the right nicotine levels for them. If you're used to smoking you need to make sure that the nicotine strength is enough to satisfy your cravings but you also need to be careful about overdoing it. Especially if you're using nicotine salts in your e-cigarette, it's easy to consume more nicotine than you're used to. 

Based on your current nicotine consumption, here's the strength that's best for you:

If you smoke less than five cigarettes a day, a strength of 0.5% or 5mg/ml is perfect for you.

If you smoke between 5 and 10 cigarettes each day, a strength of 1.0% or 10mg/ml is great.

For smokers of 11 to 20 cigarettes a day, 2.0% or 20mg/ml is ideal.

And if you smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day, 30% or 30mg/ml is the right strength. 

However, it's important to keep in mind that everyone is different so it will take some trial and error to figure out your perfect nicotine strength. 

What does the VG and PG ratio mean?

In this guide, we've mentioned VG and PG a few times, but what exactly does this mean?

VG (Vegetable Glycerine) and PG (Propylene Glycol) are two of the main ingredients in vape juice. PG is a colourless, odourless liquid that provides the throat hit sensation similar to that of smoking. VG is a more viscous, slightly sweet liquid which also has no odour. 

VG and PG make up the base of e-liquids and can be combined in different ratios for different purposes. The most common ratio is 50:50, meaning that there are equal amounts of each. If you're new to the vaping world, these e-liquids are a good place to start. 

More advanced sub-ohm vapers prefer to vape high VG e-liquids. Because these are thicker, they require a more powerful vape kit to vaporise, but they create bigger clouds and more intense flavours from your e-cigarette.
